OYO STATE BEGINS VERIFICATION FOR 5,600 NEWLY RECRUITED TEACHERS AHEAD OF DEPLOYMENT
The Oyo State Government has announced plans to onboard 5,600 newly recruited teachers into its database, paving the way for their deployment to public basic schools across the state. The verification exercise, set to begin on Thursday, December 5, 2024, will run until Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan.
According to the Executive Chairman of OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the first batch of successful candidates was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde as part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen education in the state. The exercise will be conducted in phases, with specific dates allocated to local government areas to ensure a seamless process.
Candidates are required to attend the verification session with necessary documents, including proof of local government of residence, date of birth certificate, NIN certificate, original academic certificates, NYSC discharge certificate for graduates, a change of name document for married women, and a printout of the congratulatory message received from the board.
The verification sessions will commence at 9 a.m. daily and will be overseen by relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability. Dr. Adeniran reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the welfare of teachers and the overall improvement of the education sector, describing the onboarding of new teachers as a significant step toward enhancing the quality of education in Oyo State.
The verification schedule includes:
- December 5: Akinyele and Ido LGAs
- December 6: Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, and Oyo West LGAs
- December 9: Lagelu and Egbeda LGAs
- December 10: Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East, and Ibadan South-West LGAs
- December 11: Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Ogo-Oluwa, Olorunsogo, and Oriire LGAs
- December 12: Iseyin, Oluyole, and Ona-Ara LGAs
- December 13: Atisbo, Irepo, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Kajola, Oorelope, Saki East, Saki West, and Surulere LGAs
- December 16: People with Disabilities and Caregivers
Dr. Adeniran urged all candidates to adhere to the schedule and attend their sessions promptly with complete documentation. This verification exercise marks a critical step toward deploying the newly recruited teachers and improving basic education across Oyo State.
